Aleksey Semenenko

Born in Odessa in 1988, Aleksey Semenenko has studied the violin since he was 6 under the tutelage of Z. Mertsalova. After winning the children's music festival he performed with the Odessa Philharmonic. In the following years he played with the Ukrainian National Orchestra in Kiev, the Moscow Virtuosi, at the Kremlin and the International House of Music in Moscow. His European debut took place in Hamburg in 2007, he has also performed in Philharmonies of Cologne and Essen. <> At the 2011 Musik Landschaft Westfalen Festival, he performed Paganini's Concerto No. 2 with the National Philharmonic of Russia under Vladimir Spivakov. His concerts include performances at the Berliner Philharmonie, the Louvre in Paris and Santori Hall in Tokyo. As an avid chamber musician, Aleksey Semenenko became a co-founder of the Stolyarsky Quartet giving concerts in Russia, the Ukraine, France, Malta, and Switzerland. He is currently a student of Z. Bron at the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne. Semenenko plays a Landolfi violin (c. 1760–1770), loaned to him by the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben of Hamburg, Germany. His awards include the Grand Prix of the 2006 National Violin Competition in Lviv (Ukraine), the Alois Kottmann Award in Hofheim (Germany) and the 3rd Prize of the International Paganini Competition (Russia) in 2010. In 2012 he won the Young Concert Artists International Auditions and in January 2015 was awarded the 1st Prize in the Goldstein Violin Competition in Bern, Switzerland and in May 2015 – the 2nd Prize in the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition in Brussels (Belgium).

Aleksey Semenenko has participated in the International Musical Olympus Festival in Saint-Petersburg (2015).
