Isabelle De Leon started music at the age of 4, and drumming at the age of 7 after hearing someone say "girls don't play the drums," and has worked to defy that stereotype ever since as a performer, educator, and industry professional. Known for her "ferocity" on the drums with a "startlingly personal sound" (Washington City Paper), she brings high energy and rhythmic steadfastness into every performance. She grew up playing in various Pop, Rock, and church groups, and graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance, and as a distinguished Arts Scholar. For her drumming she's been awarded the Washington Post Music and Dance Scholarship Award, the DIVA Jazz Orchestra's Stanley Kay Scholarship, the Washington Women in Jazz Festival's Young Artist Award, and was a Strathmore Artist-in-Residence in the 2012-2013 season. She's toured internationally, performed at notable festivals like Austin City Limits, Firefly, and Panorama, and was a semi-finalist on America's Got Talent with her family band, Ivy Rose. Currently she writes and performs with on-the-rise Indie Pop trio, Prinze George, tours with Paperwhite, Lionize, and freelances with many others. When not playing, she spreads the joy of drumming as a drum teacher at 7DrumCity, DC's top rated drum lessons and rehearsal space studio.<<cut>>
