Maria Vlasova

Maria Vlasova was born in Vladimir, Russia. She graduated from the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music and completed a postgraduate course in button accordion (class of Professor Friedrich Lips). In 2013 she got her PhD in Arts for her thesis titled Works of Mikhail Bronner for the button accordion. She is currently the Associate Professor of the accordion department at the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music. 

She has been prize-winner of international competitions in Russia, Germany, Italy, Spain and China, and participated in festival, such as Moscow Autumn, Button accordion and its players, The Return, Alexander III Bridge (Moscow), Transfiguration (Yaroslavl), Accordion Days (Serbia), Vogtland Days of Music (Germany), Les Heures Concertantes de Touraine, Rencontres Musicales Internationales de Graves (France), Canterbury International Music Festival (England) and others. <<cut>>

Maria Vlasova has appeared with the Svetlanov Symphony Orchestra, State Symphony Capella of Russia, National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, Vremena Goda Chamber Orchestra, Kremlin Chamber Orchestra, Orfarion State Ensemble of Soloists, Russian Kamerata Tver Chamber Orchestra, Vologda Governor's Orchestra of Russian Folk Instruments, Nizhny Novgorod Russian Folk Orchestra, Oryol Governor's Symphony Orchestra, as well as other ensembles conducted by prominent conductors including Vladimir Jurowski, Timur Mynbaev, Valery Polyansky, Alexander Vedernikov, Pavel Kogan, Vladislav Bulakhov, Misha Rakhlevsky, Oleg Khudyakov, and Galina Perevoznikova. She has appeared in recitals in Austria, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, Ukraine, and USA, as well as in many Russian cities. The artist also performs in duets with clarinetist Yevgeny Varavko, organist Konstantin Volostnov, and percussionist Viktor Sych. 

Maria Vlasova was the first musician to perform a number of works by Efrem Podgaits, Mikhail Bronner, Tatiana Sergeeva, Marina Shmotova, Nikolai Popov, Tatiana Shatkovskaya, Nikita Mndoyants and other contemporary composers. Apart from original compositions for button accordion, her repertoire, includes major cycles like The Well-Tempered Clavier, French Suites and Goldberg Variations by Bach, Ludus tonalis by Hindemith, La Nativité du Seigneur by Messiaen, The Seasons by Tchaikovsky and Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussorgsky. 

Since 2007, Maria Vlasova has taken part in concerts of the Moscow Philharmonic Society. In 2008–2015, with Svyatoslav Lips, she co-headed Rendez-vous, International Festival of Classical and Contemporary Music (Moscow). She has recorded several solo CDs, including La Nativité du Seigneur, Silhouette, The Seasons by Tchaikovsky and Pictures at an Exhibition, Waiting for Tenderness, Garden of Dreams and Variations Sérieuses.
