Sergey Kapkov is a director, journalist, film historian, and artistic director of the Icarus National Animation Prize. A graduate of the Dmitry Mendeleev Russian University of Chemical Technology (1995), he has been working in journalism since 1991. He has been a scriptwriter and director for a number of documentaries, and producer of animated jam films Owl Me Tender (2015), Popcorn (2016), and Animatango (2017).
Kapkov has authored several books on cinema, including of the books These Different, Different Faces, His Highness' Comrade, Kings of Comedy, Minor Characters, Once upon a Tale, Alexander ‘Pilot’ Tatarskiy while being a contributor to the Encyclopedia of Russian animation. <
Since 2011, Sergey has been a manager and presenter for the concerts of the Russian State Symphony Cinema Orchestra. In 2017, he became becomes Managing Editor of the animation studio Soyuzmultfilm.
Sergei Kapkov has been a multiple recipient of the award by the Russian Guild of Film Experts and Critics, and a prize-winner of international film festivals.
