Sergey Tarasov

Sergei Tarasov studied at the Central Music School of the Moscow Conservatory and graduated from the Conservatory in the class of professor Lev Naumov.

He has won First Prize at several international competitions: the “Printemps de Prague” in 1988; the “First Alabama” (USA) in 1994; the “Sydney” in 1996 (where he was also awarded six special prizes); and the “Premio Jaen” (Spain) in 1999. Tarasov was Second Prizewinner at the Fourth International Music Competition of Japan in 1989; the F.Busoni International Piano Competition in 1995; and the Eighth Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition in 1995. He won Fourth Prize in the Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition in 1998. <<cut>>

Tarasov performs regularly in recital and concerto in Russia and abroad, and has participated in such international festivals as: Schleswig-Holstein and the Ruhr in Germany; Osaka in Japan; and the Bashmet, and Printemps’ de Prague in Czecholsovakia. He has given performances in the Large Hall of the Moscow Conservatory and the St. Petersburg Philharmonic in Russia, Tokyo’s Santory and Osaka’s Festival Halls in Japan, the Verdi Hall in Milan, the Sydney Opera House, El Teatro Teresa Careño in Caracas, and the Salzburg Mozarteum.

Tarasov made his recording debut in 1989 for Melodia, and has also recorded two CDs for the Arts and Electronics American-Russian Joint Venture.
