The Turbulent 20th Century (poetry periods and movements; spoken word performance subscription)

    Alexey Zlakazov

Alexey Zlakazov was born in 1960 in Kalinin (now Tver). He graduated from the Lomonosov Moscow State University (Faculty of Journalism) in 1982, then studied at the Stage Directing Department of the Boris Shchukin Theatre School (now Theatre Institute) until 1990.

He has worked in theatres and philharmonic societies of Novgorod, Tver and Moscow. At the Moscow Philharmonic, he staged a series of mono-performances based on the works of Andrei Platonov, Nikolai Gumilev and Mikhail Zoshchenko, before focusing on recitation programmes.

Zlakazov’s repertoire includes more than ten solo programs featuring 19th century literature (Alexander Pushkin, Ivan Pushchin, Anton Chekhov), 20th century prose (Andrei Platonov, Boris Pasternak, Mikhail Zoshchenko, Mikhail Bulgakov, Vasiliy Shukshin, Arkady Averchenko), and Russian emigration poetry.

Every year, he is on the playbill of literature-centered subscription series of the Moscow Philharmonic Society.
