Moscow Philharmonic Society welcomes you to experience Philharmonia-2, its brand new concert hall. The venue is located at Grand Concert Hall of Moscow Olympic Village (Michurinsky Prospekt, Olympic Village, 1) that served for quite awhile as home base for Vladmir Nazarov Theater. In 2014 it became part of Moscow Philharmonic Society to be used primarily for music performances, nevertheless leaving theatrical drama as part of its repertoire.

With a view to stage full-scale philharmonic performances the venue underwent a complete overhaul including replacement of seats, interior redesign, installation of light and sound equipment, as well as improvement of venue’s acoustics. Parking is an easy task as well: the venue features a free parking lot for its patrons.

We have scheduled all Subscription Series performances for the 2017–2018 Season that feature top-notch talents who all perform at Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, our main philharmonic venue. At Philharmonia-2 we place special focus on Subscription Series for kids and entire families.

The kick off philharmonic performances at Olympic Village help our potential patrons in South-Western Moscow to save travel time, since the venue is located so conveniently and all scheduled performances match in artistic depth and professional mastery those performed in downtown Moscow. Moreover, Philharmonia-2 tickets cost much less than tickets to venues in the center of the capital.

We hope all this will dramatically enrich musical experiences for all Muscovites helping more and more people appreciate the beauty and magic of music.

Vleugels Organ Rachmaninoff Concert Hall

The organ installed in 2018 at Rachmaninoff Concert Hall (Philharmonia-2) is a brainchild of joint efforts between Vleugels pipe organ manufacturing company (Germany), Moscow Philharmonic Society and Alexei Shalashov, its Executive Director, who came forward with the concept of rigging the venue with the state-of-the-art digital organ. The main concept behind this approach was to rig a specific concert venue as a location capable of recapturing sounds and voices of diverse instruments designed by world’s top pipe organ makers of past and modern times across the globe.

The grand and impressive console of the organ (spieltisch) housing a powerful processor was manufactured by top-notch craftsmen at Vleugels. Its midsection sports four hand keyboards (manuals) and a pedal board, its side sections are outfitted with 80 multi-function handles that activate organ stops and peripherals. Each organ profile installed into the computer memory is accompanied by a separate tape featuring stop names that easily fits into slots located above the handles. Thanks to this feature organists can exercise full visual control over the disposition of stops of a selected instrument profile which makes performance a natural process comparable to any other pipe organ.

The bottom section beneath the manuals and the pedal board features sequencer buttons that enable performers to instantly change registration without any external aid. The sound quality is achieved through an extended speaker system that incorporates 20 modules located in different parts of the hall, more than 20 mics installed both on stage and in the hall, as well as a set of amplifiers and sound processors manufactured by Fohhn (Germany). The central component of the system features a processing module designed by experts from Müller-BBM (Germany) specifically for the Rachmaninoff Concert Hall. This setup fits seamlessly with the venue’s inherent acoustics.

The list of organ profiles available for use at Rachmaninoff Concert Hall gets regular updates. It features profiles of great pipe organs designed by Arp Schnitger, Johann Gottfried Silbermann, Eugenio Casparini and other great masters. That’s why organ performances at this venue retain their freshness and charm for genuine fans and connoisseurs of classical music who strive to expand their knowledge about the instrument that was first created more than 2,000 years ago. Each performer can expand his or her professional horizon when playing this 21st century instrument. Now they can attain highest levels of interpretation by selecting instrument profiles that fit best to original scores and concepts of diverse musical pieces.

The organ setup at Rachmaninoff Concert Hall featuring state-of-the-art digital technologies is a unique phenomenon in modern day performance practices. Its features help music fans enjoy the entire spectrum of instruments designed by top-notch organ manufacturers of different historic periods and assess pieces composed specifically with these instruments in mind. Since no other concert venue around the world can boast such a rig, Rachmaninoff Concert Hall aims to become the world’s leader in the field of pipe organ performance art promotion.
