Literary Concerts in Moscow Schools

40 professional reading artists of the Moscow Philharmonic have prepared over 200 concert programs for school children of all ages.

We work with schools in such a way that we do not interfere with the study process – you choose the day and time of the concert yourselves. In preparing the concerts, we are guided by the school literature curriculum and extra-curricular reading.

At the same time, our performances do not replace literature lessons – the topics of the concerts go outside the boundaries of the compulsory list of books studied at school. A concert may be devoted to one work, or entire literary currents (“Poetry of the 1940s”, “The Silver Age of Russian Poetry”), or a certain topic (“English Humor”, “Russian Paris”).

For primary school pupils, our artists will read various stories: Russian folk tales, and stories by Pushkin, Chukkovsky, Mamin-Sibiryak, Aksakov, Bahoz, Zakhoder, Alexei Tolstoy, Perrault, the Brothers Grimm, Kipling, Andersen, Hauff, Lindgren and Berg. Our repertoire also contains many children’s poems by Barto, Marshak, Chukovsky, Sergei Mikhalkov, Zakhoder and Oster.

The lively and playful “school stories” by Dragunsky, Nosov, Oster and Averchenko are very popular, as are stories about animals and nature by Paustovsky, Koval, Knorre and Bianki.

For senior school pupils, we have created diverse programs based on motifs of adventure literature from around the world (Twain, Stevenson, Grin, Lindgren) and school classics (Pushkin, Turgenev, Leskov, Alexei Tolstoy, Gorky, Paustovsky, Sholokhov).

The repertoire for senior school pupils contains practically all the Russian classic authors of the 19th and 20th centuries.

The length of concerts for primary school is 40-45 minutes, and for elementary and senior classes it is 60-75 minutes. The cost of the concert program is from 3,500 to 7,000 rubles, regardless of the size of the audience.
